Harvest 2020

Harvest 2020

A millenary event, a tradition handed down from generation to generation.

The year 2020 benefited from a positive climatic trend, with good rainfall in November and December 2019, which allowed the restoration of water reserves, while the following months were sunny and without any particular climatic problems.

A context that today has led to a premise for a thousandth of quality.

The year 2020 can be defined as a vintage with a qualitatively good and abundant harvest, which could be assimilated to that of 2018 and which allows Italy to maintain, once again, the world record in production.

It is the opinion of some experts that the wine sector is worried about the market, both in terms of prices and consumption, which in Italy as well as abroad is considerably affected by the pandemic. According to some winemakers, the risk is that the virus, which has already determined a share of unsold, may over time worsen the situation in the cellars, with an extra surplus of product, causing prices to fall.

But one consideration should be made with regard to cellar stocks which, for some denominations, are “physiological”.

In fact, some production regulations require the wine to be placed on the market even 3 or 4 years after the harvest.

Therefore, very often and for some people, an important quantity of wine still in the cellar does not mean difficulties, while in other cases, even a few hectolitres, for smaller or less known denominations, can mean economic and financial difficulties.

The forecasts could see an average stability of market prices, but certainly a high quality.

So, a vintage certainly to buy and… to drink!
