Franciacorta Wine: Where it Come from and Different Types

Franciacorta is an area in Lombardy between Brescia and Lake Iseo, famous above all for the Bollicine di Franciacorta​, the first Italian Brut with refermentation in the bottle to have had the DOCG classification. There are different types of ​ Franciacorta ​ wine (Satèn, Rosé, Millesimato, Riserva) which are all products recognised as high quality ​ sparkling italian wine​ .


Franciacorta​ Bubbles Grapes

Franciacorta is produced with Chardonnay and / or Pinot Nero grapes. The use of Pinot Blanc up to a maximum of 50% of the blend is also allowed. Do not call it SPUMANTE, by state decree this word should not be used.


Other ​Franciacorta​ ​wines

Curtefranca Bianco is produced with Chardonnay grapes, mostly, Pinot bianco and Pinot nero.

Terre di ​ Franciacorta DOC Bianco (Curtefranca Bianco) has a straw yellow color with greenish reflections and a particularly delicate taste.


Curtefranca Rosso It is mainly produced with Cabernet franc and Cabernet sauvignon grapes; minimally Barbera, Nebbiolo and Merlot. Serve at 18 ° and goes well with pasta dishes with meat-based sauces; with white meat, red meat or game if aged.


Sebino IGT – This is a category dedicated to young and fresh wines, but still of quality. These wines can be produced in four types: white, red, novello and passito, as well as in the types with the name of the grape variety: Sebino Chardonnay, Pinot bianco, Pinot nero, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carmenere, Nebbiolo and Barbera.
