Description
The Caprili winery, which stretches in the enchanting scenery of the Montalcino area, was founded in 1965 by Alfo Bartolommei and has always been linked to a classic and traditional imprint. After years of hard work and sacrifice, in 1965 Alfo as a simple sharecropper became the owner of Podere Caprili, historic property of the Castelli-Martinozzi family, owners of Tenuta Villa Santa Restituta, planting the first vineyard, nicknamed Mother, and still active today. The vineyard of the Caprili winery today is 15 hectares, most of which is cultivated in Sangiovese Grosso, from which the famous Brunello di Montalcino is produced and is situated at an altitude ranging from 225 to 340 meters above sea level. . The exposure to the South-West, on the slope that descends towards the rivers Orcia and Ombrone, the land of Eocene origin, very stony and rich in minerals, the dry, ventilated and sunny climate, are the factors that favor a perfect ripening of the grapes . The interventions in the vineyard and in the cellar are reduced to the minimum to allow nature, very generous in these places, to express themselves at their best. Today, alongside Alfo, always at the forefront, we find the sons of Paolo, Manuele and Paola e Giacomo, the representative of the third generation, who, with great commitment and competence, endeavor to produce wines of very high quality. Their goal is to reduce chemical treatments more and more, moving towards a biological and biodynamic perspective. The inauguration of the new cellar moves in this direction, step by step, continuing a glorious history of wine and great Brunello that has been going on for half a century.
