Description
Paolo Bolla has transferred the spiritual heritage of a history of vineyards and wines lasting four generations from his homeland in Veneto to the region of Umbria. Here he has come into contact with an unspoilt area of great charm, in its turn the fruit of a historical context dating back thousands of years, characterised by water and salt, still betraying its marine origin in the composition of the skeleton-rich tufaceous clay soil. Indeed, the land where the vineyards and olive groves prosper today was once covered by the ocean. The memory of that ancient environment is today translated into respect for the originality of the area and the bond established with both the area and the generations that have lived and worked there: for this reason the Fontesecca wine labels depict shell fossils, an integral part of the terroir. In their turn, the wines have chosen to highlight the originality of local species of vines such as Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasia, Grechetto, Ciliegiolo, Canaiolo and Sangiovese, cultivated and processed with full respect for their natural qualities, according to the dictates of organic wine-growing and production. Respect, nature, originality, history and the quality of life. This is the basic philosophy of the Fontesecca farm and vineyard, situated at Città della Pieve (PG), on the border with the southern part of the province of Siena. However, for Fontesecca actions, or rather products, namely oil and wine, speak louder than words. Limited output of selected products, realised with the skills of today, the experience of yesterday and an age-old tradition which can be understood by all.
