Description
The Meroni farm is located in one of the 5 municipalities of the Valpolicella Classica and more precisely in the municipality of Sant'Ambrogio about 18 km from the beautiful city of Verona, in that Valpolicella which hosts the birth of Recioto del Valpolicella and the most famous Amarone, wine now famous all over the world for its production technique and its longevity. The company covers 15 hectares entirely of property of which 11 are currently cultivated with vines after a careful restoration of the most suitable areas since the time of ancient Rome as a reservoir for the Empire "Vallpolis cella" the valley of the cellars The remaining 4 hectares are currently olive groves and woods for the respect of the natural balance of the valley. In a cartographic document of 1706 of the State Archives of Venice appears the ancient building, the current headquarters of the company located in the farm "Sengia" that appeared in the "Land Cadastre Napoleonic" with the qualification of "Arboreal arborated vine in the hills". Since 1935 the Meroni Company has obtained its products from the only grapes coming from the "Sengia" and "Maso" farms, the first one behind the farm in the valley below the village of San Giorgio called "in gana poltron" which houses a splendid parish church Romanesque.
