The viticulture on the Trieste Karst has a centuries-old tradition, which our company maintains and pursues, though with a modern reinterpretation. The karstic plateau is a territory characterized by a typical, established terroir from a thin layer of red earth, rich in iron with a calcareous sub-layer. The grapes are obtained only from vines natives, which the company undertakes to maintain. Vitovska is the white vine that dominates the Karst, followed by the Istrian Malvasia and red Teran. The company’s production philosophy is defined as sustainable bio: we do not call it strictly biological, but we always put it a strong eye for everything that is biological, that is natural fertilizations with manure, soil management
and weeds with mechanical and non-chemical means and all the green operations performed by hand. The treatments, for as far as possible, they fall into the category of biologicals. In this case, we are discovering the use of ozonated water for the disinfection of plant vegetation of vines, in place of traditional industrial pesticides.
In any case, the biodiversity enjoyed by our territory and the climatic characteristics, favor agriculture a low environmental impact, which could be summarized in about 6 annual anti-parasitic treatments, of 3 with substances only biological. All the grapes are picked only by hand and the winemaking technique is oriented to obtain fresh, elegant, fragrant and long-lived wines.
