Across the centuries, the Domaine ALLIMANT-LAUGNER perpetuates the traditions given by the two families of winemakers. The Allimant-Laugner family is made up of three generations that produce 12 hectares of vineyards under sustainable cultivation at the foot of the Haut-Koenigsbourg. Our vines benefit from a great diversity of soils, heavy clay-limestone, granite, gneiss as well as our Grand Cru “Praelatenberg”.
The Alsatian vineyard is located between mountain and plain, it forms a long strip of more than 120 kilometers long and 2 to 5 kilometers wide, for a total surface of 15000 ha. A semi-continental climate reigns in Alsace, characterized by cold winters, frost risks, spring frosts. And hot summers – interspersed with violent storms – with a lot of sunshine, around 1700h / year. Protected by the Vosges in the West, and therefore oceanic influences, the rainfall does not generally exceed 700mm per year
The Alsatian vineyard (15000 hectares total) is located on the eastern side of the Vosges mountains, mostly oriented East and South-East on a narrow band: 120 kilometers long but only between 2 and 5 kilometers wide. The semi-continental climate we get really good with Summers, with a high sun exposure (around 1700h / year). The Vosges on the west side of some rain, we usually get between 600 and 700 mm per year.
